Should I take a lawyer?

I recently got caught up in a pub scuffle with an exchange of blows between me and another, I would've have happily walked away but the other guy wanted to press charges. I was not arrested on the night but gave my name to the door staff and today the police have called wanting me to go to the station tomorrow to be formerly arrested and interviewed, should I take a lawyer with me? The Policeman was amicable and labelled it as just a 'chat' to get my side of the story. I cant help feeling though that if i say yes I hit him or we exchanged blows that this will then be used against me in court. I'd quite like this to be over and sorted as amicably as possible, I want a good career and would definately not want it go go to court, any advice would be beneficial. thanks.
